Synopsis     Novel Sample: Preface

America has self-destructed; the empire crushed itself under a vile debt. A new nation with old ambition is now the world's lone superpower, and it's on the brink of rebellion. Devolution is a 117,000-word political/historical thriller about revolution and the rise and fall of civilizations.

After the markets rupture, this new superpower's economy - which benefited from an influx of U.S. might - is thrown into a tailspin. Power hungry politicians and social extremists jockey for power within the struggling nation. As unemployment, poverty, and crime soar, citizens question their own beliefs. The nation begins to tear itself apart – much like America had years prior. Graduate student, John Nolan, didn't want to get involved in the national upheaval, but fate tossed him in the middle. Now, he's caught between history and the first woman he ever loved.

Devolution chronicles the fragility of society. The storyline is supported by historical facts and meaningful quotes lending an eerie sense of possibility to its already frightening realism. This novel forces readers to question their own values and the meaning of patriotism.

I already make my living writing for the public as an Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter in Madison, WI. I have earned more than a half-dozen Associated Press and Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awards. Now, I want to further my writing career as a novelist.

My goal is to develop Devolution into a household name. As part of my profession, I often talk to the public about the current political state of America and the world (Greece, EU, bailouts, spending). Readers will find this book very appropriate for the times. My years in journalism have also allowed me to make friends in TV, radio and newspapers all around the country, which affords me a ready-made marketing platform. Thank you for visiting this site.
